  What a gem! Exceptional service, wonderful cocktails, and some of the best food that I had during my week in Cuba. I ordered the ropa vieja for my main course and was surprised at the enormous portion that was brought to me along with a bowl of moors rice for the table to share. Trust me, you want to eat here!!

  We wouldn't have found this on our own except by recommendation, but it was one of the best meals we had that week. Walking down the quiet Rue Compostela away from the busyness of Obispo, we walked into this great restaurant busy with guests enjoying their meal and live music (that night). Service was exceptional with little touches adding professional flair and the food was hearty, artful and flavorful. Including wine and cocktails for 4, our meal came in under $90 CUC - I recommend you get off the main Obispo path and seek out La Calesa Real!

  Single best dining experience I had in a restaurant in Cuba. The Calendar had the best service as well. The first thing the waiter told us after welcoming us and before taking our order is that they didn't have any lobster that day. He seemed genuinely sorry and to an extent embarrassed about that. We started with a serving of jamón serrano and tostones rellenos de queso y jamón. The jamón serrano was garnished with capers. Jamón serrano, as I learned, is readily available in Cuba. My only complaint is that the ham is not sliced as thinly as it is served in Spain. This is true in all of the places I tasted jamón serrano un Cuba. Flavor was good. The tostones rellenos were great. We had the ones filled with cheese and ham. They were much better than the tostones rellenos we had in other restaurants. The masas de cerdo We're very good and was garnished with onions. We also were introduced to the Canchanchara cocktail; a concoction of rum, lime, honey and ice. I prefer it to the Mojito. Service was wonderful. The waiter checked on us several times. They even had a trio playing Cuban music. It's a lovely establishment worth a stop for a great meal.

  Wonderful fine dining experience in Old Havana. Air conditioned. Warm and friendly staff. Excellent food. Classic music. And a special thanks to our waiter Hamlet, who made this event the high point of our time in Havana. We will definitely be back.

  Great service and very nice people working at that restaurant. The food is good and the cocktails were good. If I return to Havana I'll look to go back to this place.
