Edificación erigida a unos metros de la desembocadura del río Canímar, ayer parte del cinturón defensivo de la ciudad matancera, asiento de un registro de aduana y apostadero naval, hoy Museo Memorial y Monumento Nacional.

::A great place to enjoy the oceanside for an afternoon. Not many people here if you want to be alone. Take a few pictures, there are a couple of old cannons. The fort is closed but its free to see anytime. Free parking. A small beach area with small lagoon protected by rocks and the fort.
